A technical dance DJ of ALL styles. Hobbz will play ANYTHING to rock the dance floor. His most commonly played “genres” are breaks, D&B, trance, dub-step, hip-hop, reggae, downtempo, jungle, speed garage, and house. He has been a musician since the age of ten, playing guitar and bass when he was a child. He was only eleven when he played his first show in a bar.
In 1998, Hobbz began attending electronic music events. It was in 2002 when he began collectiving/reinventing vinyl. Not long there-after, in 2004, Hobbz was annointed a member of the nationwide collective, the Fader Freekz, founded by Diggabeatz. The Fader Freekz is a collective of like-minded DJ’s, artists, producers, and dancers. He recorded his first studio mixx in 2004, mostly at home, but with some assistance from Digga. This was a mixx of old-school Florida funk, epic breaks remixes, and some fresh nu-skool. It was called, “The Meow Mixx”. It was soon-there-after, in 2005, he recorded his first, 100% in-home, produced mixx. This was a mixx of pure nu-skool rawness called, “Freekz in da’ Nite”.
For the next couple years he played numerous shows, not only in Utah, but in Idaho and Nevada as well. Hobbz was given prime opening spots for some of the worlds BIGGEST names… as well as headlining a few parties of his own.
After not recording for some time, Hobbz released “The Random Heartz Mixx. Vol 2 and 2.5″. This was in 2007/2008. Vol. 2 was recorded with the assistance of a freind, Walka. Vol. 2.5 was the first official, Cat’s Den Recording. It is an ararchist DJ’s revolt to the question, “What do you play?” Hobbz plays music. “Random Heartz” features tracks from artists such as: Deekline and Wizard, Ludacris, Damian Marley, Aphrodite, Esthero, Paul Oakenfold, Gabriel and Dressden, Kaskade, Ed Solo, and many more.
Hobbz and fellow SLC DJ, Son:R, started the Dark Star 801 in April of ’09. Due to the frequency of programs, Hobbz is putting out a new set every two weeks. You can hear all of these on this website.

SONAR: Is a technique that uses sound to navigate, communicate with or detect other vessels.
From a young age, Robert, aka SON:R has had a passion for Electronic Music. Being exposed to the scene through Djs like Sasha and John Digweed, in the early 2000′s Robert became entranced in the EDM scene and by 12 was dj’ing shortly after attending his first rave in 02′.
From then he knew it was the path to take and has been on the road to success ever since. For 3 years SON:R honed his skills as a dj in the bedroom before ever going out to play and over the past 4 has been booked at various events and private parties each time making his name known and remembered. Robert has also begun the “Where I End & You Begin” mix-set series which is in its last volume, Is one of the founders of Darkstar801 on lunchboxradio.com and has been signed with Groove Nation. A local powerhouse production company.
Playing all styles ranging from drum and bass, house, breakbeat and trance. SON:R is best known for his mix of melodic music in any genre, listen as he paints a picture with sound that communicates with the listener on many levels, and draws them in.
